An antique wax seal with a silver-plated handle, cast in a graceful Louis XVI taper with a delicate floral spray and a vacant oval cartouche at the crown, left blank and never engraved. The plating carries the soft, worn glow that only comes with age and handling. A lovely object for a writing desk, whether kept for the form alone or set out among letters and old books.
